The Red Sea ...is the closest tropical sea to Europe, with a flight-time of approxiamately 4:30 hours. The Red Sea diving sites belong to the most well-known in the world. Water temperatures vary from at least 19 degrees ( celcius ) in January, to a maximum of 30 degrees in August. Winter days are sunny and clear with air-temperature around 20 degrees, while the nights can get pretty cold. During the summer-time, day temperatur will be around 40 degrees, so air-conditioning is recommended during the night as well.
Why Red Sea ? Due to know and then accuring mass-reproduction of the "Oscillatoria Erythraeum" alga, the sea will change color from a clear and light blue, to red. In February and March, underwater sight is a little worse mostly, but in this time MANTAROCHEN and whalesharks can be seen. The Big tunafish and baracuda swarms can only be seen in the warm water during the summer-time. The diving sites in the Red Sea belong to the mostbeautiful in the world, because of the large fish popultaions and the impressive coral reefs. Diving in the Red Sea is possible the whole year through, and it is a exciting and worthy holiday trip in every season of the year, not only for divers.
Environmental Awareness! The Egypt government declared the Giftun islands a national park in 2000. Laws were instated to preserve nature not only above the surface. Already touching as well as taking, of even dead corals, is prohibited by law. In the meantime, the once commonly praticed fish feeding, is prohibited. The diving center support these actions and even went one step further, with stoping wild anchoring and trying to establish permanent anchoring places, before govbernment regulations came in action. These efforts have mostly eliminated reef desctruction. Efforts are strong, but unfortunately, the underwater world suffers through carelessness and lack of understanding of some guests. Every guest should be conscious about the unique underwater world, and take an active part in preserving it.
